1. Are the points auto line joined?
No, by default the points are not auto joined. However, to enable this feature, a lisp has been provided which does the auto line joining, after exporting the data to CAD.
FAQ for 'Contours' Module
2. Why outputs from various contouring softwares do not match exactly?
Contours drawn by various softwares may not be accurate since the contours are generated using complex mathematical calculations based on the available value/data. If the contours have to be correctly drawn then, they have to be drawn in such a way that there is no problem in reading elevations that are very close to one another which may be practically impossible. There are 2 basic algorithms, which are used to generate contours scientifically – Triangulation algorithms and Smoothing algorithms. All contour generation softwares use one of the many algorithms to triangulate or to smoothen. This is one of the major reasons why there are minor differences between the contours drawn using various softwares. Other factors include settings like scanning radius and smoothing factor. If higher smoothing factor is used then contours look smooth but it may not be accurate.
3. What is so special about Contouring Module of ESurvey CAD when there are so many options available for generating contours?
- E Survey CAD contour module is easiest software. Just in few clicks contours are drawn. This does not include complex steps like creating surface and such steps
It is just not contour software, it has additional features like:
- Contour Area
- Volume based on Area
- Reservoir Capacity report
- Drawing Alignment Profile Quickly, etc
- Generating Contours, Contour Annotation, Grid Elevation and Grid all can be created in Single Step

4. Can I generate Estimates with Multiple Finished Levels?
Yes, generating volume report with multiple finished levels is one of the unique features of Earthwork module in ESurvey CAD. With this, one can derive the best possible final levels for reducing the project execution cost.
5. What is the methodology adopted in 'ESurvey CAD' to calculate the volume?
One of the requirements in earthwork estimate preparation is not just volume derivation, but also it is expected to generate the report. So, the method of creating surfaces and then deriving the area is not adopted for volume calculation in E Survey CAD. Here, the surface is split in terms of section at specified interval till the vertex points of the surface boundary. Each section area is calculated and then the volume is derived. Each calculation details can be generated as reports.
6. Which method of area calculation is adopted in 'ESurvey CAD'?
There are 2 options using which you can generate the volume report:
- Section Based Area calculation
- Average area of Block Method

7. Will I be able to generate drawing in ‘ ESurvey CAD’ without any additional CAD Package?
Yes, it is possible to generate drawings in ‘E Survey CAD’ without support of any CAD Software as ‘ ESurvey CAD’ has an in built CAD Screen. Even the generated map can be printed directly from ESurvey CAD.

All 'ESurveying Softech (India) Pvt. Ltd.' Products comes with single user license only. For using it on more than one machine of same organization one has to buy additional licenses.

Generally customizations are not encouraged as the product by itself addresses most of the requirements. However in case of certain specific requirements, customization can be taken up at an additional cost. 14. Which version of AutoCAD is ESurvey CAD compatible with?
It works with all the version of AutoCAD right from above AutoCAD 2000
15. I wish to use the software in different machines - What should I do?
Software comes with 2 type of license a) Hardware Lock b) Soft key file.
If you have chosen hardware lock license, it is simple, for whichever machine you insert the hardware lock it will work, if the basic system requirements are met. Please note that it can be used in one machine at a time.
If you have chosen Softkey license, license is for specific computer and hence you will not be able to use it on different machine, to use it on different machine you have to buy additional license.
16. How to know about the Latest Product Releases and Updates?
Software new releases or updates are generally not frequent in nature. On an average there might be a couple of releases per year.
