You can create Profile drawing from Vertical alignment Tab and Plan can be generated in Plan Tab. Normally when the road projects run in multiple kilometers, as per project requirement multiple drawings to be created which will have details of half kilometer or a Kilometer road. Splitting the whole plan into multiple drawing is not at all advised as if there are further changes or when the whole drawing is required for study, updating the drawing becomes very difficult.
To address this kind of requirement, CAD Packages have an excellent feature called Layout. In Layouts of CAD System a particular portion of the drawing can be arranged only for printing purpose. These drawings are arranged in a CAD object called view ports, which can have different scale and rotation angle. In a given layout, you can have multiple view ports. This concept is extensively used by CAD engineers as it has obvious advantages like when the main drawing that is a model is updated, print layout gets updated automatically. Printing drawings in various stages of the project are commonly required. By using model & layout concept considerable convenience of handling the drawing can be achieved.
However, splitting the drawing into multiple layouts is itself a challenging and time consuming assignment. To put it as a nutshell, if preparing the plan and profile is a challenging task, making printable drawings of these plans and profile is equally challenging and time consuming. This particular problem is now effectively addressed by ESurvey CADD.
Export the plan and profile drawings to cad packages as understood in the earlier videos. Put both profile and plan in one single drawing.
Create only a base Layout as per the project requirement with multiple view ports. That creates only a Template Layout. Rename the Layout Sheet as “Base”.
You have to assign unique Layer Name to each viewport. For example, in this drawing viewport representing plan is assigned a layer “Plan”. Similarly view port representing the profile is assigned a layer “Profile”.
Now switch to model space and by using “ALNE” command i.e, using “Create Lines along an Alignment” menu item under “Drawing and Layout” Menu item of ESurvey CADD.
Select the alignment line and specify the length of road that you want to print per drawing sheet. The program will create lines which indicate various segments connecting the points of specified length along the alignment.
Using “HRLN” command, mark segments of profile which you want to print along with the plan.
Once the lines are drawn on plan and profile drawings, by using “CRLO” command we can create multiple layouts with reference to Template that we have created as “Base” layout.
You may also note that the program automatically arranges the plan and profile to its respective length along with a rotating plan drawing in each layout. Note that each newly created layouts are assigned with names 001, 002, Etc.
We have developed a New Module called “Cad Layout” [Link to CAD Layout Module] to address this specific requirement with advanced options.
